Thank you for your comments. My daughter is Jewish, but honors many other holidays as well as we always have in our home, post my divorce from her Father. Please do not take offense at the "X"mas. It was meant merely as shorthand. Helena

In defense of Christmas, your blog's title motivates me to respond to your daughter's Jewish roots. She is fortunate in many ways to be closer than others to the origin of the reason for the season. The many carols, ie. Dicken's version, tales & myths, Santa Claus, etc. and traditions are valuable to be sure but we must acknowledge the universal application of the birth of Christ and the significance for the individual that opens his mind to the how it applies to him/her personally. I am not of Jewish faith but that is not part of my response. I hope your readers move forward with an open mind and replace the "X" of Xmas with "Christ-mas".
