Helena’s Blog: Menopausal Relief – Amberen Experiment #1
Dear Friends:
In case you ddn’t already know, I have been in the throes of menopause for the last 3 years and it has been a rough road. My libido had almost disappeared, my energy level flagged, I had practically hourly hot flashes night and day, and my yonie became dry, inflamed and painful. Needless to say, it was not good for my relationship either.
I have been writing a book on the journey, which will be coming out soon, but the story isn’t over. Since I didn’t have the income to do the Dr. bit with tests and HRT, my friend, Joyce Gerber (you will be seeing more articles and stuff from her on this site soon) recommended that I try a product called Amberen. I went to the site and signed up, got the product and I have been taking it for a week now with some surprising results! While the jury is not yet out on this one yet, I thought it might be interesting to share a journal on the journey with you. Let’s discover together how this product works!
I went to the site last week: http://www.amberenonline.com and selected the $7.99 free trial and I received about 90 days worth of product within about 3 days. Now here’s the rub , I discovered. If you order the 90 day version, it costs only $99.99. But if you do the trial, and decide to keep the product after 30 days, the way I did, then it costs $149.99! I don’t know quite yet what to tell you about how to best handle that, but I guess we will figure it out once the initial 30 days are up.
The idea behind the product is that it “rejuvenates and rebuilds the body’s own systems in order to restore optimal hormonal balance” by stimulating the hypothalamus — the command center of the body’s hormonal system, jump starting cellular matabolism normalizing the function of the communication and synergy between the organs of the neuroendocrine system reviving hormonal balance.
I love this idea! I want my body to do its best work, rather than layering on treatments that bring in foreign bio-identical hormones.
The program includes, from what I can tell thus far two 90 day applications: take product at same time daily for 90 days. Then go off it for 90 days, then back on for 90 days.. I am not sure if this pattern requires repeating indefinitely, or if it just needs to be done the two times and the we are finished.
I started taking the product 8 days ago and I am amazed at the immediate results! I am only sorry I didn’t start with a daily journal, but beginning today will have to do. Since I began taking the pills, I first noticed that my nipples went on “high beams” almost immediately, with the normal accompanying sensitivity. Previous to that, the sensitivity of my breasts and nipples had diminished considerably. Now I am aware of them all the time! This new symptom is still ongoing.
I began to experience bloating, my tummy got very rounded, and I thought I must’ve been gaining weight. By the 4th day, I experienced some menstrual spotting, which by the 5th day became a full-on period with minor cramping (much less difficult than before). I also have some fibroid tumors which in the past had caused clotting, extreme cramps — it actually felt as if I was attempting to give birth each month! It will be interesting to see how this aspect is affected. So I am on the third day of bleeding, and I am wondering if it will subside as it would around this time when I was having periods before.
The biggest thrill thus far is how my genitals are feeling. Previously, there was lubrication evident, but what it felt like was very different. The edges of my inner lips had been feeling inflamed and irritated constantly so that I wanted to sit on ice all the time. I was beginning to worry that there was another problem!
Since taking the Amberen, that irritation seems to be almost gone. The tissues of the inside of the vagina had also been painful for sex (uncomfortable at best) and we needed to use loads of lube! Pleasure inside was almost non-existant, except for oral stimulation. We are waiting to do intercourse till the bleeding subsides. I will update you on how that is feeling.
Overall, before the Amberen, I had been feeling kind-of dried up, like an old leaf ready to blow away. Now I feel more hydrated, more full of myself and alive! I am very excited thus far and looking forward to see how it goes from here. I will be making additional entries every few days or so. But I am leaving tomorrow for the weekend and don’t know if I will be able to get back on this til next week. Til then…

I am a nutrition consultant and wanted to mention that diet plays a huge role in symptoms. By giving up caffeine, alcohol, sugar and refined flour you can do wonders for your health and really reduce symptoms. Also – this product is super for helping with nighttime hot flashes ChiliPad – it’s a mattress pad that cools down the bed. It’s amazing what a full night of restful sleep can do to help with the rest of the symptoms.

This is very true. I am one for whom the jury is still out on hormone replacement therapy, and unwilling to deal with the risks as long as there are other options. This herbal approach appeals to me because it stimulates my own system to respond more naturally, with my own body intelligence channelling the outcome.

Do you think the spotting and bleeding began because of the Amberen?

Most definintely. As the hormones rebalance to pre-meno levels, you may experience a period even!

I honestly did not know/expect spotting to be part of this. Just glad hot flashes almost non-existant. I am also glad to be able to sleep and do have way more energy. love it. two months into this. glad I stumbled upon this product. One of my coworkers opted for HRT, she has noticeable weight loss, still waiting for mine (going to gym 3x week)

Hello again! I hope these blogs become active again…. I am in my 6th week and the hot flashes are coming back and the nite sweats are affecting my sleep again…. what is going on?? Is the Amberen stimulating to another level?– to actually eliminate for good?? and what about the rapid weight gain how long before this disappears??

Dear Tina;
Well, I am taking it again after way too long of an interim in between. i will post more as I go.
As to your situation, do check your instructions and feel free to contact the site with any questions you may have. They have been very helpful to me. http://www.amberenonline.com/
As I remember from my instructions, if you are experiencing symptoms returning and you are still using the product (should be three months on and three months off), then double your dose daily — 2 red and two white and see how that works for you. Write back and let me know how you are doing.

Sometimes menopausal symptoms can be brought on due to adrenal fatigue. Adrenal fatigue is the result of long term/multiple stressers which results in drains on every other organ in the body, affecting your endocrine, hormonal and many other body systems. Basically, the ongoing level of stress causes the focus of the body into fight/flight response in the adrenals, shutting down or lessening many of the other productive systems within the body. Since the stress is ongoing, with little or no opportunity to rebalance the body chemistry and the other body systems become depleted with symptoms ranging from fatigue, to allergies, respiratory illness, deperession, weight gain, lethargy, and more, This can also result in abnormal cortisol levels which symptomatically result in some extra weight gain — especially around the middle. Check with your Dr. and have a saliva test done (blood test results will only reveal an extreme case, and you may be dismissed as a result) for your hormone/cortisol levels. If you are using progesterone cream or any other other transdermal supplement, it will skew the results of the tests. As to how taking Amberen affects those levels, I cannot say, and would recommend that you check with them regarding this issue at http://www.amberenonline.com. Your totally wrong about EVERYONE comes to an age of menopause. Simply not true. Most men are not that way. I believe once women realize that don’t have to provide that self-perceived “duty sex” to their partners. After that is realized, they will only make time to accomplish their other goals in life…whatever that may be. I wish it was different because I miss that intimacy and just breaks my heart at what does get lost in that change.

Hi Ladies –
Dito – Dito!! I am 51 & started menopause about 45. I felt like HRT was not an option for me. I wanted to go all natural. Nothing really helped long term. BUT I started Amberen 3 months ago. My hot flashes & night sweats were horrible. So was my energy level. Three days into taking Amberen I was dramatically feeling better. My hot flashes were reduced and I started sleeping thru the night. Oh how great it was to get a good nights sleep! Same with me – libido and dryness were awful. i didn’t want sex at all. not good for a relationship!
Nearly all my menopause symptoms are gone. Do I still have hot flashes or night sweats? Yeah, but instead of 25-30 hot flashes a day I may have one every couple of days! No kidding. I sleep the entire night thru. I’ve lost 12lbs. My energy level is way up and so is libido. THANK YOU AMBEREN FOR SAVING MY LIFE!!
In those three months I was so excited about how much better I was feeling. An idea started formulating in my mind about helping other women. I decided to take some action. At 51 I had no idea how to build a website but decided to go for it anyway. I’ve now finished & published as of last week! It’s my story about Amberen and how I was dealing with menopause before taking Amberen. My website is Put The Pause in Menopause.
Please check it out for the full story. I can highly recommend Amberen! I’d be glad to answer any questions. All I can say is that you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. They also have a risk free trial. It’s no nonsense and none of the automatic enrollment shinanigans either. And no, I’m not affililated with the company – I just want to HELP OTHER WOMEN!

Hi Helena or anyone else who might be able to assist me:
Thank you for the information. Did Amberen work for you? I am very slight, and I started gaining weight around mid-section when menopausal symptoms hit. Did Amberen help with losing that weight gained from menopause? Thanks.
