Well, it has been about three weeks since I have written and much has happened! It is partly because life has been full, busy, stressful and partly because the hot flashes have returned. I wanted to wait a bit and watch this symptom to see how it would play out. Because the pills are so expensive, I have resisted taking two a day (as the package suggests) up to this point, as I had hoped that it was just temporary. However, after three weeks of this, I am convinced that doing so will be necessary. I will keep you posted on how this works.
However, I can report that the quality of the hot flashes that I am experiencing now is different than before Amberen. They come on slower, easier, are wetter and steamier, but not as violently, surgingly uncomfortable, which, I hope is a good sign of something.
However, I am happy to report that the vaginal dryness symptom is still improving. Where it previously felt like internal sandpaper, with all of the discomfort, one might envision, now I experience moisture and the internal muscles are relaxing more and slowly, modicums of pleasure are returning. My partner is also helping with regular g-area stimulation, which is opening up my pelvis from a more contracted state. We have also discovered that loving caresses along the thighs help to relax the pelvic area before and after intercourse and orgasm – and it feels awesome!
