After lots of research and hesitation I decided to try Amberen. It was after your, Helena, 'Amberen Experiment #3' comment. I had extremely severe menopausal symptoms and was treated in Belgium (I am French, so sorry my English) by naturopath - doctor. Once I came to the US, I had to go on HRT - Fehrmt, what worked for 1 year and alleviated hot flashes, joints pain and insomnia. However, after 1 year (+/-) I started to experience again lots of pain, no flashes, but horrible mood swings. Because of some fibrosis in my breast, I wanted to wean off HRT, against my gynecologist. So I started to try everything possible : Estroven, herbs, Bach flowers, etc. Nothing worked and I had to continue HRT. Finally I found Royal Jelly plus bee pollen (in honey) which gave me a real boost of energy and helped dropping libido. I tried Amberen while still alternating Fehrmt. Afer second week I noticed drastical improvement in my mood swings. But I started to have lots of flashes. I raised the dosage to 2 servings and it worked for another week. Enormous difference was that I COULD SLEEP !!!! And sleep and sleep again. But after a week or so my hot flashes were overwhelming again. Only I didn't feel as dizzy neither as nervous as earlier. I called the company and before ordering the extra package for B-plan clients (if you need double dosis, they send you 3 boxes supply for $50) asked what to do. They adviced me to come back to the normal intake for few days and then again raise the dosage if needed. It worked for me. But I noticed that now it works even better when I am taking 2 pills in the morning and two in the evening or late afternoon. I can't say my hot flashes are completely gone but they improved enormously. I can sleep really easily. I am in much better mood and have energy during the day. I am not at all irritated anymore for nothing. (Once, I even wanted to show I am angry at my usband, I just could not !, contrary to my earlier reactions when I was explosing in a second) And, for me the most important is that I can focus again on my work. I am completely weaned off FEHRMT and certainly will not come back to it anymore. I didn't have any weight loss but my waist line seems to be more marked. (I am excercising 5x/week in form of workouts and biking). I still have a month to go on Amberen before making the interruption. Ah, I forgot to mention that my hair seems to be really better too. I continue Royal Jelly with bee pollen + propolis + ginseng (in Vitamine Shoppe) and start to feel a 'resurection'. Lets hope it will continue. Please give your feedback, because only from our common exchange we may help other women and of course ourselves. Good luck to all of you ladies who suffered from what is not considered as disease but what may spoil our life too, oh much too early !
